Visualize Yourself Out of Dental Anxiety

Elderly coupleCrown Council dentists do their best to provide patients with the best in restorative, cosmetic, and general dental care. They not only want to provide patients with the care they need, but they want patients to feel comfortable while they are receiving treatment. Most patients are surprised by just how little pain or discomfort is involved when they are receiving dental treatments done by their Crown Council dentists.

Many times, patients’ nerves have already kicked in before they are anywhere near the dentist office. If you are one of these anxious patients, try some visualization and picture yourself in a very pleasant spot. Try closing your eyes and picturing yourself there, whether it’s on the beach or on a mountain—or anywhere that makes you feel good.

This is a great mental strategy to help dental patients stay calm. They also need to keep in mind that their treatment—whether it’s dental implants to restore a missing tooth, teeth whitening to brighten up your smile, or a thorough cleaning to keep up on oral hygiene—is going to lead them to better oral health.

If you are like many and struggle with dental anxiety, many Crown Council dentists have several options for sedation to help ease those nerves and diminish pain. Ask your Crown Council dentist about oral analgesics, nitrous oxide, conscious sedation, or IV sedation.

You don’t have to suffer through dental anxiety. We want all of our Crown Council dentists’ patients to have a positive experience, so please ask your dentist about sedation options, relaxation techniques, and strategies to help you remain calm and enjoy your time with us.
